The objective of the Kingsgate Young Scholars Research and Policy Academy is to equip emerging economists and policy thinkers with practical skills, professional exposure, and mentorship that bridge academic knowledge with real-world economic analysis, thereby fostering a new generation of leaders capable of shaping evidence-based, inclusive economic policies.
The Kingsgate Young Scholars Research and Policy Academy equips emerging economists and policy thinkers with practical skills, mentorship, and exposure to bridge academic training with real-world economic analysis, preparing them to shape inclusive, evidence-based policies.
The Academy is committed to closing the gap between academic knowledge and applied economic analysis. Through real-world projects, simulations, and practitioner-led sessions, scholars gain firsthand experience in translating economic theory into actionable insights and policy solutions.
The Academy fosters analytical rigor and intellectual curiosity through guided research, peer collaboration, and exposure to leading methodologies. Scholars are trained to interrogate evidence, evaluate competing arguments, and produce high-quality, policy-relevant research.
The Academy connects emerging economists with seasoned professionals for mentorship, career guidance, and long-term support. Through fireside chats, one-on-one coaching, and networking opportunities, scholars gain clarity, confidence, and access to career-defining opportunities.
Recognizing that effective economists must also be strong communicators and team players, the Academy places emphasis on writing, presenting, and working across disciplines. Scholars engage in group projects, policy writing exercises, and public speaking to refine these core competencies.
By providing a structured, hands-on learning environment, the Academy prepares participants for diverse careers in economics and public policy. Scholars build technical expertise, sectoral awareness, and professional agility needed to navigate complex economic challenges.
