In fragile and conflict-affected states, public policy is not just administrative decision-making — it is a tool for restoring stability, building trust, and shaping long-term nation-building outcomes. Crafting policy in these environments demands navigating power dynamics, strengthening institutions, rebuilding social cohesion, and aligning local priorities with international support.
As part of the 10 high-level modules of the learning sessions in the Kingsgate Advisors Institute Young Scholars Academy, our first cohort explored the theme: The Political Economy of Public Policy in Fragile & Conflict-Affected States. The session broadened their understanding of how political incentives, institutional strength, citizen trust, and external actors influence policy outcomes in fragile contexts, a critical foundation for emerging policy leaders.
As this inaugural cohort approaches the end of their academy experience, we are proud of the transformation we have witnessed.
