Food Security Crisis Deepens As Climate Solutions Gain Focus

Nigeria’s food security crisis is deepening as rising poverty, climate-related shocks, insecurity, and pressures on agricultural production continue to affect households and communities across the country.

On 7 September 2026, Kechiro Ambro-Moye, Research Analyst at Kingsgate Advisors Institute, joined News Central for a discussion on Nigeria’s food security challenges and the growing focus on climate-smart solutions.

The conversation drew from her policy brief, “Enhancing Food Security in Nigeria Through Climate-Smart Adaptation,” published in the Kingsgate Young Scholars Journal, Volume I.

The discussion explored some of the pressing challenges facing Nigeria’s food system, including the effects of climate change and extreme weather events, while considering practical approaches to strengthening resilience and improving food security.

Kechiro’s appearance highlights the importance of bringing evidence and policy ideas into wider public conversations on issues that directly affect livelihoods and development outcomes.
