Call for Applications: Kingsgate Young Scholars Academy (Cohort II)

Applications are now open for Cohort II of the Kingsgate Young Scholars Academy — a flagship programme of Kingsgate Advisors Institute focused exclusively on fragile and conflict-affected states (FCAS) in Africa.

In Africa’s fragile and conflict-affected states, institutional fragility and limited analytical capacity undermine evidence-informed decision-making. Despite being closest to these challenges, young Africans are seldom positioned as producers of policy evidence or participants in reform processes.

The Academy was established to change this.

Cohort II will equip selected scholars with:
• Rigorous, policy-oriented training grounded in African fragile contexts
• Applied research experience using real datasets and live policy questions
• A supervised capstone project addressing a concrete policy challenge
• A structured on-the-job internship with Kingsgate Advisors, working alongside researchers and policy practitioners
• Leadership and change-management capabilities to navigate institutional fragility and influence reform processes

The Academy is demanding by design — rigorous, immersive, and grounded in real policy work. It is intended for young Africans (ages 18-35) who are serious about advancing evidence-based reform in fragile and conflict-affected states.

All admitted participants receive a full scholarship covering 100% of tuition fees.
If you are prepared to engage deeply, think analytically, and contribute meaningfully to policy and development processes in Africa’s fragile contexts, we encourage you to apply.
